Now let us tell you about the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our IT team as a 1st Line IT Support Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of IT-related issues. This role is crucial in maintaining a smooth operation of our organization's IT systems and ensuring a positive experience for all users.

Key Responsibilities:

End-User Support:

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, chat, or in person.
  • Assist users in resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues promptly.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, escalating more complex issues to higher-level support when necessary.

Incident Management:

  • Log and track incidents using the IT service desk system.
  • Prioritise and manage the resolution of incidents based on their impact and urgency.
  • Keep users informed on the status and progress of their reported issues.

Hardware and Software Troubleshooting:

  • Perform hardware and software diagnostics to identify and resolve issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Support standard office applications and troubleshoot software-related problems.

User Training:

  • Conduct basic training sessions for end-users on IT systems and tools.
  • Create and maintain user documentation and knowledge base articles.

Security Compliance:

  • Enforce IT security policies and procedures.
  • Assist in implementing security measures, such as antivirus updates and user access controls.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex issues.
  • Communicate effectively with end-users and provide excellent customer service.

Technology Trends:

  • Stay updated on the latest IT trends and technologies.
  • Propose improvements to current systems and processes.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma \ A level in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other standard office applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts.
  • Experience with remote desktop support tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a 1st line IT support role is an advantage but not mandatory for highly motivated entry-level candidates.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position with occasional after-hours support as needed.
  • The role may require lifting and moving of computer equipment.
  • The candidate will need to travel to Leeds depot 2 days a week to provide on-site support. A pool car will be provided for travel.
